As you probably have heard, some cases are popping up around town and some compounds are going into lockdown or schools moving back to online classes as a safety precaution to control the spread. As for the rest of us, we are just trying to stay safe and warm giving us that extra push to just stay put, stay safe and stay home.
When home, we are able to get extra work done ( yuck ), finally crack open that book we wanted to read in 2021, or lets be honest…binge watch Netflix. But as for our fur kids, 2 days, 7 days, 14 days of quarantine, can be a lot of time spent inside for the pets that are used to a normal daily routine. For dogs that could be daily walks and for cats…well this depends, does your cat love or judge you 😂
At least, that goes for my cats who are currently giving very loving subtle cues to show how much they love me being home more, such as; giving judgmental stare downs ( refernce gif below 👇 ), knocking glasses off of the counter and my personal favorite, pooping 2 minutes after I clean the litter box…

But with that said, when it comes to playtime and indoor activities its always good to have engaging games, toys and activities around for both cats and dogs to play with. To give everyone some helpful tips and ideas we have gathered some fun indoor activities that both you and your pets can enjoy together to get you through these tough (and sometimes boring) times.
Take a piece of kibble or a treat and place it in one of your hands. Hold both of your hands out towards your dog or cat in a fist and have them pick which hand it’s in. Once they guess right, they get the treat as a reward.
Hide a piece of their favorite treats in your pets collar and around the home and then have them walk around to start looking for it. This should keep them engaged and relying on senses alone to seek out that hidden treasure! Once they find a treat in a hidden spot make sure to celebrate a job well done!
One of the oldest games and also the easiest. Tell your dog to stay and slowly remove yourself from the room, and find your hiding spot. Once ready call his name and allow him to get super excited while looking for you! No treats are needed for this game, finding you will be big enough for a reward.
Let the games begin!
Find an empty box, shoe boxes work great and cut some holes in the top so that your fingers are able to fit through. Make sure you have a hole on the side that allows you to stick your arm in and flip it over. Use your fingers to stick through the top and have your cat whack a finger. The reward: your cat whacking your finger.
Line up 3 cups in a row in front of your dog or cat. First, put a treat under one of the cups while your pet is watching, give him the OK to show you which one is the right cup where the treat is. When they choose correctly praise them and let them have the treat. Then once your pet seems to get the hang of it you can make it more challenging by reassembling the cups around after you place the treat. Reward: they get a treat for being smart and you get the chance to film some viral-worthy content.
If you have attended one of our DOGA events in the past, then you know that it’s the perfect way to just take a break and calm the mind. For those that haven’t had a chance, DOGA is basically Yoga with Dogs = DOGA. Yoga helps flexibility, stress relief, general fitness, and overall health, and when you add on your fur friend it adds more fun!
Okay, so this one isn’t a game but its still a very very fun activity for you and your fur kids.
